This is an easy DIY Unicorn Birthday cake that anyone can make! Perfect for at home celebrations! (Not professional style)
HOW TO MAKE A UNICORN BIRTHDAY CAKE
Now lets be kind, I am no cake maker… but wanted to do something special and I think the unicorn birthday cake turned out pretty well on a whim and out of a box cake! Yes thats all you will need here because we are that fancy!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED :
- BOX CAKE MIX – follow as directed.
{ whatever kind you like or you can make your own from scratch } - FROSTING
{ White is best so you can add colors, you can make your own from scratch too } - CAKE PAN
{ We used this one HERE } - ICING COLORS
{ We use these HERE or HERE } - CAKE TOPPER
{ We used this one HERE }
NOW LETS BEGIN!
I would show you the whole process of mixing a cake from a box, and putting it into the oven but I am sure you know how to!
ONE TIP THAT I LEARNED BEFORE YOU PUT THE MIX IN THE PANS – butter the pans, then put flour in… any additional flour dispose of. * DON’T USE cooking spray
Then fill the cake pans no more than 3/4 full – for these half full worked best!
Here are the 4 that came out great! The first one I learned the mistake of not adding the flour. Now I feel like I am a baker, we all have to learn right.
Now its time to color the frosting, choose what colors that you like and just mix. Normally using these HERE or HERE a little goes a long way!
Pick a cake stand that you like and start layering your cake. You can do the frosting colors whichever way you like.
Keep layering until you use all your pieces of cake.
Now its time to add your topper! We of course went with unicorn theme, and you can find it HERE. Now this isn’t perfect but you know what she will love it just the same!
Zoe said it was the best unicorn birthday cake ever! We hid it until this moment and she was so excited! You can see her reaction on the video on this post HERE. Hopefully this gave you some inspiration to be able to do it on your own! You can do this for any theme and any color! Make sure to tag me if you make one!
