Mother’s Day Tradition
Mother’s Day tradition. A simple idea that turned into the sweetest memories. Mother’s Day started to look a little different around here 3 years ago and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Instead of one big gift or a busy schedule, we’ve started focusing on something that feels a lot more meaningful… creating a tradition. Something simple, hands-on, and centered around being together. Each year we do something different and here you can see this year and years past!

A Flower Pot Painting Party
We started the day with what might be my favorite part—painting flower pots.
Nothing fancy. Just a table set up with pots, a handful of paints, and everyone gathered around creating something of their own.
My favorite part seeing how they are all different! Some were simple, some were colorful, some were a little messy—but that was the best part. There’s something about slowing down and making something with your hands that just feels good.

It ended up being more than just an activity… it was time together. Laughing, talking, and creating side by side.
And the best part? Everyone gets something to take home to remember the day! They got a plat too – now lets see if they keep it alive!
** Make sure to follow directions and BAKE the pots after painting and letting them dry. We took off all stickers and plastic.

Making Simple, Beautiful Bouquets
I had a flower stand, and everyone brought a bouquet! I had a bunch on the stand just in case but everyone brought amazing ones!

We kept it easy—mixing a few different stems, letting everyone build their own bouquet however they wanted. No rules, no pressure, just creating something that felt pretty to them.

There’s something so special about fresh flowers, especially when you take the time to arrange them yourself.
It felt calm, a little slower, and honestly just really beautiful.

A Favorite Things Moment
The first year we did “favorite things” and making flower pots!
Each of us brought something small we love—something simple, useful, or just fun—and shared why it mattered to us. It had to be enough for everyone under $5!
It’s such an easy idea, but it made the day feel more personal. You learn little things about each other, get new ideas, and it adds that extra layer of connection.
It doesn’t have to be big or expensive… sometimes the smallest things end up meaning the most.

Planting the Pots
To finish it all off, we planted our flower pots.
I grabbed different plants, soil and we had shovels ready! I got a bloom bar sign which was so cute!
Now those pots aren’t just decor… they’re a memory.
Every time we see them, we’ll remember the day we spent together creating them.
Why This Will Be a Mother’s Day Tradition for you?
Mother’s Day will feel different in the best way.
Not rushed. Not complicated. Just intentional.
Something you will want to hold onto.
Each year you will want to try new things, but what you wont want to change :
Spending time together. Creating something. Making memories that actually last.
If you’re looking for a simple way to celebrate Mother’s Day, this might be it.
Because sometimes the best traditions are the ones you didn’t plan… they just happen—and you realize you never want to skip them again.
I hope make this a Mother’s Day Tradition!
