DIY Hanging Advent Calendar with Cricut
*THIS IS A SPONSORED POST WITH JOANN and CRICUT, ALL THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ARE MY OWN. THANK YOU JOANN and CRICUT FOR SPONSORING THIS.
Today I am going to be sharing with you how I made this easy DIY Hanging Advent wreath using my Cricut Explore Air 2 machine in the color Cobalt, which is exclusive to JOANN. I am so excited to write this post, because I will be honest I don’t love to try new things. I was so nervous and I just went for it. I am such a visual person and the videos that Cricut have able made it a breeze, I was able to do two projects effortlessly!
Let me walk you through the process, they have so many options for this I decided to do the iron on. Its crazy the Cricut Explore Air 2 cuts over 100 materials — everything from cardstock and vinyl to specialty materials like glitter paper, cork, and bonded fabric.
The first step, was to gather all my supplies! I haven’t used the Cricut® Explore Air™ 2, in Cobalt blue before or any of them, so I headed on to JOANN and grabbed a few items including this Cricut Essential Vinyl Tool Set, some Iron on and vinyl for fun!
I made my design on the Cricut Design Page, before I got ready to print there is a button to mark when you are doing an iron on ( the mirror) make sure that is turned on. The first time I was doing the project on my phone I didn’t see it and thank heavens my friend Leslie asked me if I did.
* I will say going on a computer makes it so much easier to see everything, that is my one recommendation!
Make sure to put the shiny side down, and you can get ready.
I love being able to see each step on the computer as the Cricut is doing its job!
Right here you can see it cutting, honestly where has this been my whole life!
I am not sure if I can tell you had more fun on this project, Zoe said she wanted to use it every day!
Here you can see all the numbers ready to be cut, and placed to be ironed.
{ And no one will notice I skipped 17, don’t worry it was so easy to go back and print one)
I removed the negative pieces, leaving the clear liner intact.
{ This is called weeding – which is so fun}
Now its time to Iron on the numbers on the bags!
You know how I love having a place for everything in my home, well Cricut thought ahead they have spots to hold your tools!
Zoe made this wreath at a local class so we thought it would be so great to add onto it and make an advent calendar.
If you wanted to make your own wreath part, all you need is : Twine, a stick, wire and your greenery! So easy!
We attached six pieces of twine to the back of the wreath, now its time to hang the bags.
I had these bags, but you can find them at your local craft store. Each one had a string and I just tied directly on the twine. You can space them however you would like.
Here is the finished project, and of course Rosie wanted to show it off too! This was so much fun to do, even though it took me out of my comfort zone.. it gave me the confidence to do many more projects! Thank you again Cricut and JOANN for sponsoring this.
Look at you and Zoe go! You are pros already! Love how this created such a fun way for you two to craft together and bond! What an added blessing! Merry Christmas darling 😘 with love, Julie
Awe thank you Julie!
